An Italian Destination Wedding in Tuscany
Beth and Jon exchanged vows during their Tuscany destination wedding with a beautiful backdrop of Tuscan hills, sunshine and olive groves stretching as far as you could see. An intimate wedding, low key with sunflowers thrown is how they described their dream day, it was exactly that.
A RELAXED OUTDOOR CEREMONY, INCREDIBLE FOOD, STUNNING VIEWS, laughter and good vibes.
The Details

Forestaria
A rustic Italian farm, hidden in the Tuscan hills surrounded by olive groves with stunning views towards Lucca.
Bridal Prep at Loggia del Centone in Matraia
We spent the morning getting ready in “one of the oldest and most beautiful “casale” in Matraia. The villa was full of family and close friends, the atmosphere was super relaxed, tunes on and lots of laughter. I loved that from the room where Beth as getting ready, you could see the wedding venue on the other side of the valley. Before we needed to leave, we had a bit of time to take some photos in the garden, which also had a great view of Lucca and the mountains beyond.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Forestaria Olive Farm
Beth and Jon exchanged vows underneath a giant tree on one of the grassy garden terraces – in a heartfelt ceremony led by a celebrant with those breath taking views as a backdrop. In the warm Italian sunshine, friends and family watched as Beth’s nephew walked her down the aisle and then shook Jon’s hand. After the ceremony we took a few family photos and the celebrations began.
A Swing, The Sunflower Bouquet and Apericena
The afternoon was lush, drinks in the sun, the tables were decorated with sunflowers and a rustic touch. Once everyone was seated the eating began, course after course was served. It was a truly fabulous experience to ejoy the apericena as the sun set over the hills of the valley.
Golden Hour Couple Portraits
No fancy poses here. These moments when you just “are” that are my absolute dream. Before the wedding we had discussed when we wanted to make some wedding day portraits, Beth and Jon both felt that sunset would be perfect. Lucca and Tuscany mean so much to these two, it’s a real honour to capture these quiet moments between people in a place that is so special to them.
Italian Folk Music, Dancing and Relaxed Celebrations
When we first met, Beth told me how they just wanted relaxed natural photos as neither of them were comfortable with staged setups and posing. Shooting documentary with only a few group photos is my absolute favourite wedding request. They didn’t want a traditional first dance but the Tuscany Folk Band was superb, they brought the best energy and vibes and got everyone up dancing.
BETH, JON AND YOUR NEAREST AND DEAREST THANKS FOR TRUSTING ME TO CAPTURE THESE MEMORIES!
I ADORED EVERY MOMENT X

planning a DESTINATION wedding
01
Is a destination wedding legally recognised?
Legal recognition depends on the destination and the couple’s home country, many couples opt for a symbolic ceremony abroad and do the legal bit at home to simplify the documentation.
02
Guest travel and accessibility.
One of the most common challenges is getting everyone to your wedding. Give everyone plenty of notice, start your planning extra early to avoid guest list disappointment. Or use it to your advantage if you know what I mean.
03
Booking based on photos alone.
There is a big difference between hoping your venue is right and knowing your venue. If at all possible, visit your destination before booking.
04
Is a destination wedding more affordable?
It can be, but it depends on your plans. While some locations offer package deals, additional costs like travel, accommodation, and extra events (welcome dinners, excursions) can add up quickly. It’s important to budget carefully and allow a buffer.
05
How do we plan a wedding in another country?
Lots of couples choose to work with a local wedding planner or coordinator. They help manage logistics, recommend trusted suppliers, and handle communication, which is especially helpful when planning from a distance.
06
How do we keep things organised for our guests?
When guests are travelling, they need more guidance than usual. Many couples create a wedding website with clear travel and accomodation info.
