Nottingham Council House Wedding and St Marys Church
Rosy told me her family tradition where each generation of women all marry in St Mary’s Church, all wearing the family veil made of Nottingham lace. I love to hear that couple’s are keeping the traditions that mean something and resonate with them.
The Details

St Mary’s Church
Grade 1 Listed and the largest medieval building in the city of Nottingham, St Mary’s is an absolutley stunning backdrop for a wedding ceremony.

Getting ready at home and dried rose petal confetti
Even before I set foot in the wedding preparations, I knew that this Nottingham city wedding was going to be relaxed, laid-back, and pure enjoyment from start to finish. The day began in Rosy’s family home where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids and mum. Tom got ready with his pals a 10 min drive away at the home he shares with Rosy. For months now, Rosy and everyone in the family has been collecting rose petals to dry to use as colourful floaty confetti.
Ceremony at St Mary’s Church in the Lace Market.
Rosy and Tom married at the beautiful St Mary’s Church set in the Lace Market area of Nottingham, the ceremony was stunning. Friends and family watched as Rosy’s brothers walked her down the aisle wearing the family’s Nottingham lace veil in the most stunning dress, with a bouquet of bright colourful flowers.
Walking through the city to the Left Lion
I think walking between your venues is a great idea, makes for some beautiful scenes walking through the streets together. We took our time getting to the reception, wandering the streets, and taking photos as we went. The left lion was quietly waiting for us as we approached the Nottingham council house so we went ahead and took a couple of photos.

DIY decorations crafted by loved ones paired with the family traditions – I couldn’t love her more if I tried. From the rose petal confetti collected and dried by family and friends to the seed bombs Rosy crafted for her favours. They put so much thought into the details. It’s lovely to see, and all the guests really appreciated it.
ROSY, TOM, ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR DAY AND TRUSTING ME TO CAPTURE THESE MOMENTS.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT X
faqS
for planning a NOTTINGHAM COUNCIL HOUSE wedding
01
Where is the council house in Nottingham?
Right in the centre of the city, on the old market square, with 2 giant lions, columns and a large clocktower. If you have even been in town you can’t miss it.
02
What is the capacity?
Perfect for intimate to large weddings, with seven different rooms to choose from for your ceremony and reception. The Ballroom is the biggest space and has a max capacity of 120 guests.
03
Is there parking on the Market Square?
Because of the location there is no parking, however within a 10 minute walk there is the NCP on St James Street and the Trinity Square car park. The trams also stop on the market square and connect to the train station.
04
Can we have readings, music, or write our own vows?
Yes, you have up to two readings and you can choose your own music or have live acoustic music. You can also write your own promises but they need to follow civil ceremony rules i.e. no religious content
05
Can we bring decorations, flowers, or confetti?
Flowers are already provided in the rooms and confetti and balloons are not permitted inside or outside the council house.
06
What is the cost for a Nottingham Council House Wedding?
Ceremony fees start around £185 but you must contact them for precise costs as prices fluctuate by the room, day of the week and if your having your reception at the Council House.
“I wanted natural, casual photos and she delivered. She got the most amazing photos of the entire day, but she was never intrusive.
Laura captured moments that I hadn’t even thought would be significant but are some of my favourite memories looking back.”
